Back from the Dark

If you're going through hell, keep going. ~Winston Churchill

Of all the times this could have happened, it happened four days ago: when everything was new and the workload was heaviest and every entry in my schedule was marked URGENT and IMPORTANT. I'm scared to go back to work on Monday.

Corneal Ulcer was back with a vengeance. The pain was excruciating. Every movement of the eyelid rubs against the torn skin of the external eye and every ounce of light was enough to start the pain all over again. Suffice it to say that I could barely keep my eyes open, much less get out of our house's front door. Darkness was my friend for two and a half days. The specialist finally explained what it was all about: recurrent corneal erosion: the tearing of the covering of the eye (probably during sleep).

It's one of those helpless times. I can't really do anything about it but to suffer in silence. I would like to thank my Mum and my Bro for taking care of me these days. In time, the wound eventually heals and the pain lessens. I know that had it been a fever, LBM, fracture, or the like, I would have struggled just to be able to go to work. But as it is, I could not do anything but wipe my tears and wait because apparently, pain relievers have zero effect on this.

As I've said, I'm still afraid to go back to work on Monday.
